In The Studio

Look at this stunning quilt! It is a UFO from sometime in the late 1990s.

Sometime around 1998, myself and a group of my quilting buddies from Kingwood Texas decided to make an Eleanor Burns “Quilt in a Day – Jewel Box” quilt. We took a road trip to The Painted Pony ‘n Quilts Shop in La Porte Texas and selected fabrics to share.

Well, it took me a lot longer than a day to finish this one, but I am really happy with it. I’ve named it Almost Amish, because it reminds me of the solids and blacks used in Amish Quilts, but these jewel-colored prints give it quite a pop!

While quilting this one, I learned some new tricks with rulers, trying out a braided border with a wavy ruler.

If you like Almost Amish and it’s matching Pillow Sham, look for it in the Store. This one is for sale.

I also moved the Split Nine Patch Quilt along some…Three out of the four quarters are finished. I just have to finish the last section and join them all together before I move on to borders. This one was designed in EQ 8. I offer classes if you would like to learn how to use this program.

And this month I did get my embroidered bird block done on time. This month I made the wren.

I think I’ll work on the sparrow for August.
