In The Studio

April 1, 2021

Signs of Spring are everywhere. Our daffodils are blooming, the apple trees are full of buds and our grass is greening up. I have received both of my Covid vaccinations and have passed the two week waiting period. For Easter we are headed up to New Jersey to visit with family. Finally, after more than a year we will see my husband’s 94 year old dad. He has been vaccinated, too. He is a wonder, in great health, still active and ready to beat us at our family card game!

If you are also fully vaccinated and ready to get out, perhaps you want to learn something new. The Elements of Quilting Class is designed to lead you through all the basic steps of quilting. You will learn how to sew proper 1/4 inch seams on your own machine, while you create 5 blocks and assemble them into either a runner or sampler quilt. In this 5 week course you will learn all about fabric selection, needles, thread, rotary cutting, basic quilt design, the building blocks of piecing, applique, machine quilting and binding.

This month, I am helping a new quilter make a Log Cabin Quilt to give as a gift. I am making one, too!

If you have a specific project, I can also set up a custom class for you.

And finally, I finished Block #5 on my embroidered birds project “Flight of Fancy” from Crabapple Hill. This month I made the Robin Block, since our yard if full of them.
