In The Studio

January 15, 2021

After finishing some Christmas gifts, I took some time off from quilting and just enjoyed the Holiday Season. We were able to visit, safely, with our daughter and her boyfriend. We spent time together taking walks, watching movies, playing cards and eating way too much!

My local quilt group CAQG was invited to hang some quilts at the Center at Belvedere in Charlottesville. I’m proud to say that three of my own Quilts are there through the end of February.

So far, this month has been pretty crazy. We spent a week studying a local property that we thought might make a nice retreat center. In the end, we decided it needed too much work to remodel and get it into the shape we needed.

So we took a step back and looked at our own property. After consulting with the county about zoning, we have decided to build a classroom extension onto the current Studio. This new room will allow up to 12 quilters to gather and learn at the Quilt Studio in Afton.

Watch for updates and photos as this project moves forward.

I’m itching to get sewing again and I have quite a few projects that need to get finished. This is just one of many.

Finally got out to the longarm…working on borders for my Barn Raising quilt.

And finally, with Valentine’s Day coming up soon, I hung some of my favorite February Quilts up in the studio. These are sure to cheer up the space on cold winter afternoons.
