In The Studio

August 9, 2020

Just a few things got finished this week, as my week was dedicated to getting to some scheduled medical appointments.

First Medicare!

Yes Tom and I both turn 65 this month. So we were required to have a welcome to Medicare chat with our primary physician. Good news…we are both healthy and hope to live to 100!

I also took care of my yearly mammogram screening. Good to do this in your birthday month so you don’t forget.

No results back yet, but I don’t expect any surprises.

I did manage to finish the Quilt of Honor on the longarm. Took it over to the Quiltmaker who will finish the binding

I finished the cross stitch insert for my thimble holder. I’ve had this holder since 1990. But I did not start the cross stitch until this year. Kelly was born in January 1990, that could be why this project got shelved. By the way, she’s now 30!!

Tip: when trying to press and get creases out of fabric and Aida cloth use Downy wrinkle releaser. Spray it on, then iron as usual. It really works wonders on getting out stubborn creases.

I’ve decided to make some pads to go under our sewing machines in the studio, to protect the new work table.

So I spent some time choosing fabrics and cutting out the bases. They will be quilted and each one will have front pockets to store scissors and thread.
